MamaTENS

Using a MamaTENS enables you to give birth to your child with more self-confidence and look back on one of the most important events in your life with greater satisfaction. You can manage the pain in safety: with MamaTENS you have everything under control.

De MamaTENS is a user-friendly, portable digital TENS appliance. The appliance transmits electrical pulse through electrodes applied to the skin to the nerves sending the pain signals. These pulses ‘distract’, as it were, the nerves that are sending the pain signals and reduce pain signals to the brain. Moreover, the body is stimulated to produce endorphins, which are natural painkillers. This means that MamaTENS does not eliminate the pain completely, but does reduce its intensity

The MamaTENS has three pre-programmed programs for the three phases of the delivery. You can press a special boost button to alleviate severe labour pains.

You hold the MamaTENS in your hand or use the safety cord supplied with the device to hang it around your neck. The cord has a special lock that breaks when the cord comes under tension. An attachment clip is mounted on the back of the appliance. You can simply clip the stimulator to your trousers or skirt.

MamaTENS assigns priority to safety. The appliance switches off automatically when it has been switched on accidentally or the intensity has not been increased within 5 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

TENS is the abbreviation of ‘Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation’. This treatment is based on the use of weak electrical pulses to alleviate pain.

The TENS appliance is a handy small device with two cables that you attach to the electrodes. You apply these self-adhesive electrodes to your skin. The TENS appliance sends electrical pulses to the electrodes when then pass through the skin.

Important effects of TENS:

– disrupts the nerve transmission of pain, which reduces the pain you feel

– the brain stimulates the production of natural painkillers such as endorphins

– relaxes the muscles

TENS can be prescribed for both acute and chronic pain and pain syndromes. The therapy focuses on general pain signals.

TENS is used in applications including the following:
– Headache
– Lower back pain
– Neck and shoulder pain
– Limb pain
– Many forms of nerve pain
– Vascular pain

– Phantom pain
– Gout and joint inflammation

Examples of acute pain situations in which TENS may be of use:

– Scar tissue pain

Nerve stimulation (TENS) does not have any short or long-term harmful physical effects. You must, obviously, comply with the safety instructions

TENS therapy has virtually no side effects. Skin irritation may occur due to an allergic reaction to the electrodes used with the appliance. Van Lent Systems has a very broad and large range of skin-friendly electrodes to combat skin irritation problems.

In some cases, the body may become accustomed to long-term daily use of nerve stimulation. This accustomization can result in lower production of endorphins.
